Ex.1. Put the following sentences into Reported speech. Use the introductory verbs in brackets.

1. She says, “I have many friends at the university, Mother.” (tell)
2. The teacher says, “You have an English lesson today, group 4.” (inform)
3. Ann says, “I’m tired, because I work from morning till night.” (announce)
4. The Dean says, “Dear colleagues, I have a little spare time now.” (informs)
5. He says, “My brother lives far from us.” (say)

Ex.2. Put the following into Direct Speech.
1. He says that his family is in the South now.
2. My friend says that she is a third-year student.
3. Mother says that my brother is going to take me to the Zoo on Sunday.
4. Ann says that she likes to play tennis very much.
5. Rita says that her friends don’t visit her very often. They study much.

Ex.3. Put the following into Indirect Speech.
1. She says, “Bill, open the window.”
2. Mother says, “Ring me up at 6 o’clock”
3. John says, “Take these flowers, Mary.”
4. Father says, “Wash up dishes after supper, Liza.”
5. The librarian says, “Don’t take the dictionaries away.”
